When it comes to volleyball, not everyone speaks the same language or uses the same lingo. If you're not sure what some of the requirements are asking, please ask!
PLAYER REQUIREMENTS
- punctual
- over 18 years of age (some exceptions may apply)
- respectful of others
- solid understanding of the 4-2 system of play
- understanding of court zones (positions 1-6)
- understanding of the setter in position 2.5
- basic understanding of a 6-back defense
- basic understanding of court positions (left, middle, right)
- able to demonstrate a proper transition from offense to defense
- basic understanding of the rules of volleyball
- playing experience should include at least some recreational volleyball or higher

FITNESS REQUIREMENTS
We generally recommend our classes to fairly healthy individuals. You should meet the following criteria:
- you can run (short sprints),
- tolerate 2 hours of moderate intensity exercise
- jumping (6 inches)
- no major injuries (that limit your ability to play)
- no major health concerns

SKILL REQUIREMENTS
1. Blocking: you must be willing to block, even if it's a very low (defensive) block.
2. Attack: you must be able to jump & hit. You must be able to hit consistently (with top spin) from the ground given an easy toss.
3. Forearm pass: If you were standing in the back of the court and someone gave you an EASY TOSS, you are 100% confident that a target standing at the net would be able to catch your pass without breaking into a sprint.
4. Volley (overhead pass): If you were standing in the back of the court and someone gave you an EASY TOSS, you are 100% confident that a target standing at the net would be able to catch your pass without breaking into a sprint.
5. Serve: You can serve the ball into the court (in any fashion) 5 times in a row without missing.
6. Dig: You can get down into a low defensive position and receive a hard hit ball.
SETTERS ONLY
- must be able to volley the ball with a partner (from 4 meters away) without them having to move more than 1 step
- must be able to volley the ball across 3/4 of the court (6 meters) without lifts or double contacts
- must be respect their defensive & offensive responsibilities (not just standing at the net waiting to set).
- must be vocal and mindful of their area of responsibility (when to ask for help).
